Last updated September 8, 2026.
The short version
These terms cover everything under the aplyx name: the free command-line tool and desktop app, the browser extension, this website, a free hosted account, and the paid hosted plans that aren't live yet. Using any of it means you accept these terms.
Who can use aplyx
You need to be at least 16 and old enough to enter a binding agreement where you live. One account per person. Don't share your login.
What aplyx does, and what it doesn't
aplyx searches job boards, checks each posting against your profile with fixed rules, tailors your resume per posting, and can fill out and submit applications for you. Anything uncertain lands in a review queue for you to decide on. aplyx is a tool that acts on your instructions. It does not find you a job, guarantee interviews or offers, or promise that any given application was received, is error-free, or went out on time.
You're responsible for what goes out under your name
Every application aplyx submits carries your name to a real employer. You are confirming that the profile, resume, and answers you give aplyx are accurate and truthful, that you're allowed to apply to the roles you target, and that you authorize aplyx to submit on your behalf. Don't use aplyx to lie about your qualifications, spam employers, apply for someone else, or break the law.
Job boards and ATS platforms have their own rules
aplyx interacts with third-party sites (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, and others) and, if you add them, your own login credentials for those sites. Automated access can conflict with a platform's own terms, and a platform can rate-limit, flag, suspend, or ban an account for it. You accept that risk. aplyx isn't responsible for a third-party platform's decisions, downtime, or changes that break a feature.
Your coding agent
The local tool drives a coding agent you install and pay for yourself (opencode, Claude Code, and others). That agent and its model provider have their own terms and their own costs, which are between you and them.
Paying for a plan
Paid plans are monthly subscriptions that renew automatically until you cancel. Cancel any time from your account. No refunds once a payment is made. If you cancel before your next billing date, you keep full access to the tier you paid for until the end of that paid period, then the account drops to the free tier. Prices can change with notice before your next renewal. You're responsible for any taxes.
Free and open source
The local aplyx software is open source under the license in its public repository. That license governs the code itself. These terms govern the hosted service, this website, the aplyx name and branding, and your use of all of it together.
The tool is provided as-is
aplyx is offered without warranties. It's early software that automates a consequential, real-world task, and things can go wrong. To the extent the law allows, aplyx isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses (a missed opportunity, a damaged relationship with an employer, a flagged account), and total liability for anything is capped at what you paid in the twelve months before the claim, or USD 100 if you paid nothing.
Ending it
You can stop using aplyx and delete your account any time. aplyx can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or creates legal or safety risk. Local software you've already downloaded keeps working under its open-source license regardless.

docs/legal.md in the
repository for that context. Two items in Section 17 (the governing state and, if one
is formed, the operating entity) are set to the maintainer's current state of residence
and must be confirmed before any paid plan launches. Nothing here is a guarantee of
compliance with any specific law; if that matters for your situation, consult your own
counsel.
1. Agreement to these terms
1.1. These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and the individual operator of the aplyx project ("aplyx", "we", "us", or "our"), a sole proprietor as of the date at the top of this page. They govern your access to and use of the Services defined in Section 3.
1.2. By downloading, installing, accessing, or using any part of the Services, or by clicking to accept these Terms where that option is presented, you agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
1.3. If you use the Services on behalf of another person or an organization, you represent that you are authorized to bind that person or organization to these Terms, and "you" refers to that person or organization.
2. Definitions
2.1. "Local Software" means the aplyx command-line tool and the aplyx desktop application that you install and run on your own device.
2.2. "Extension" means the aplyx browser extension.
2.3. "Site" means the website at aplyx.app and its subdomains.
2.4. "Hosted Account" means an authenticated aplyx account whose profile and resume data are stored on our infrastructure, in either the free hosted tier or a paid plan.
2.5. "Paid Plan" means a paid subscription tier to the Hosted Account service. No Paid Plan is available as of the date at the top of this page.
2.6. "Services" means the Local Software, the Extension, the Site, and the Hosted Account service, collectively.
2.7. "Your Content" means the profile information, answers, resume files, cover-letter inputs, job-search preferences, credentials, and other materials you provide to or through the Services.
2.8. "Coding Agent" means the third-party AI coding assistant (for example opencode or Claude Code) that you install and configure, and which the Local Software drives to perform certain steps.
2.9. "Third-Party Platform" means any job board, applicant tracking system, employer site, model provider, or other third-party service the Services interact with, including Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday, Discord, and Google Sheets.
3. The Services
3.1. Local Software. The Local Software runs on your device. On your instruction, it searches configured job boards, applies a deterministic fit gate to each posting, tailors your resume per posting via your Coding Agent, and fills out and, where your configuration allows, submits job applications. Postings or steps it cannot complete confidently are placed in a review queue for your decision.
3.2. Extension. The Extension activates only on supported application-form pages (Greenhouse, Lever, Ashby, Workday) and only after it detects a fillable form. It offers to autofill fields from your profile and to run a fit check. It never submits a form on your behalf.
3.3. Hosted Account. A Hosted Account stores your profile and resume file(s) on our infrastructure so they are available across your devices. As of the date at the top of this page, no job searching, tailoring, or application submission is performed by our infrastructure; those steps still run on your device via your Coding Agent. If a fully server-run mode is introduced, it will be described here and in the Privacy Policy, with a separate consent step, before it applies to you.
3.4. Paid Plans. Paid Plans, when available, add server-side capabilities (for example server-run application review, and later automated applying) and per-day application caps that vary by tier. Section 9 governs billing for Paid Plans.
3.5. Open-source components. The Local Software is made available as open source under the license stated in its public repository. That license, and not these Terms, governs your rights to copy, modify, and redistribute that source code. These Terms govern your use of the Hosted Account service, the Site, the aplyx name and marks, and the Services as an integrated offering. Where the open-source license and these Terms conflict as to the source code itself, the open-source license controls for the source code.
3.6. Changes to the Services. We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Services at any time. For a material reduction of a feature you are actively paying for, Section 16.3 applies.
3.7. Beta and pre-release features. Features labeled beta, preview, experimental, or similar are provided for evaluation, may change or be withdrawn, and are excluded from any service commitment.
4. Eligibility and accounts
4.1. You must be at least 16 years old and have the legal capacity to enter a binding contract in your jurisdiction to use the Services. The Services are not directed to children under 16.
4.2. A Hosted Account is for one individual. You may not share account credentials, let another person use your account, or maintain more than one account without our consent.
4.3. You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly at support@aplyx.app if you believe your account has been accessed without authorization.
4.4. Account registration and authentication are handled through our authentication provider. You must provide accurate information and keep it current.
5. Automated application submission
5.1. Authorization. By configuring the Services to submit applications and by initiating a run, you authorize aplyx, acting as your agent and on your behalf, to complete and submit job applications to the employers and postings your configuration targets, using Your Content and, where you have provided them, your Third-Party Platform credentials.
5.2. Scope of authorization. That authorization is limited to job applications and directly related steps (creating an application account with an ATS where required, responding to a verification prompt you supply, and recording the outcome). It does not extend to any other action on a Third-Party Platform.
5.3. Your control. You control which boards, roles, levels, and locations are targeted, the per-run and per-day caps (subject to a hard maximum of 25 applications per day), and whether submission is automatic or gated behind the review queue. You may stop a run at any time. You are responsible for the configuration you set.
5.4. No guarantee of outcome or delivery. aplyx does not guarantee that any application was received by an employer, was submitted before a deadline, was free of errors, targeted an appropriate role, or will lead to any response, interview, or offer. Automated form filling can misinterpret a field, and Third-Party Platforms can reject, drop, or fail to record a submission for reasons outside our control.
5.5. Your review obligation. You are responsible for reviewing the review queue, your application history, and any outcomes, and for correcting or following up on anything that went wrong. aplyx's review queue and logs are provided to help you do this; they are not a substitute for your own oversight.
6. Your Content and your responsibilities
6.1. Accuracy and truthfulness. You represent and warrant that Your Content, including every statement in your profile, resume, and application answers, is accurate, current, and truthful, and that you have the right to submit it and to apply to the roles you target.
6.2. Ownership. You retain all rights in Your Content. You are solely responsible for it.
6.3. License to operate the Services. You grant aplyx a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, transmit, display, and process Your Content, and to create tailored derivatives of it (for example a per-posting resume or cover letter), solely to provide and maintain the Services for you and to submit applications on your behalf as described in Section 5. This license ends when the relevant content is deleted, except for copies retained as required by law or in routine backups pending deletion.
6.4. Credentials. If you provide Third-Party Platform credentials (for example an ATS account login), you authorize aplyx to store them encrypted and to use them to act on your behalf within the scope of Section 5.2. You represent that you are permitted to provide those credentials for this purpose.
6.5. Prohibited content and conduct. You will not use the Services to:
6.5.1. misrepresent your identity, experience, education, work authorization, or any other qualification, or submit an application for or as another person;
6.5.2. submit applications you do not genuinely intend, in volume or manner that would constitute spam or abuse of an employer or a Third-Party Platform;
6.5.3. violate any applicable law, any Third-Party Platform's terms, or any third party's rights;
6.5.4. upload malware, attempt to gain unauthorized access to any system, probe or test the vulnerability of any system without authorization, or interfere with the integrity or performance of the Services;
6.5.5. reverse engineer, decompile, or circumvent any technical limitation of the Hosted Account service (this does not restrict rights you have in the open-source Local Software under its license), or resell, sublicense, or provide the Hosted Account service to third parties;
6.5.6. scrape, replicate, or build a competing dataset from the Site or the Hosted Account service, or use automated means to access them other than the Services themselves;
6.5.7. use the Services in a way that exceeds a plan's stated limits, or share one account's paid capabilities with others.
6.6. Enforcement. We may remove content or suspend access that we reasonably believe violates this Section, with or without notice depending on severity.
7. Third-Party Platforms and services
7.1. Independent services. The Services interact with Third-Party Platforms that we do not control. Your use of a Third-Party Platform is subject to that platform's own terms and privacy policy, and is between you and that platform.
7.2. Automated access risk. Automated searching, form filling, or submission can conflict with a Third-Party Platform's terms of use or technical controls. A Third-Party Platform may rate-limit, challenge, flag, suspend, or terminate an account, including your own account with that platform, in response. You acknowledge and accept this risk. aplyx is not responsible for a Third-Party Platform's terms, decisions, enforcement actions, downtime, data, or changes, or for any consequence to your standing with a Third-Party Platform or an employer.
7.3. Coding Agent and model providers. You are responsible for obtaining, configuring, and paying for your Coding Agent and its underlying model provider. Their terms, usage limits, availability, and output quality are outside our control. Resume and job-description text is sent to your model provider as an inherent part of tailoring, as described in the Privacy Policy.
7.4. Payment processor. Paid Plan payments, when available, are processed by a third-party payment processor (Stripe). Your payment is also subject to the processor's terms. We do not receive or store full card numbers.
7.5. Opt-in integrations. Discord status updates and a Google Sheets sync are optional, off by default, and send only the data described in the Privacy Policy to a destination you configure.
7.6. No endorsement. References to any company, job board, or ATS on the Site or in the Services identify compatibility only and do not imply any partnership, sponsorship, or endorsement in either direction.
8. Acceptable use of the Site and infrastructure
8.1. You will not overload, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Site or the Hosted Account infrastructure, or use it other than through the interfaces we provide.
8.2. You will not use the Services to store or transmit content that is unlawful, infringing, or that you do not have the right to provide.
8.3. We may set and enforce technical limits (rate limits, storage limits, per-day application caps) and may throttle or suspend activity that threatens the stability, security, or cost structure of the Services.
9. Fees, billing, and refunds
9.1. Free tiers. The Local Software, the Extension, and the free Hosted Account tier are provided at no charge. We may change what the free tier includes; we will not begin charging you for something without your express agreement to a Paid Plan.
9.2. Paid Plans. No Paid Plan is available as of the date at the top of this page. When Paid Plans launch, this Section governs them and the pricing page will state the then-current tiers and prices.
9.3. Subscription and auto-renewal. A Paid Plan is a subscription billed in advance on a recurring monthly cycle. It renews automatically for successive monthly periods at the then-current price until you cancel. By subscribing, you authorize us and our payment processor to charge your payment method for each renewal.
9.4. Cancellation. You may cancel a Paid Plan at any time from your account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals; it does not trigger a refund of the current period.
9.5. Refund policy. All payments are final and non-refundable once made, except where a refund is required by applicable law. If you cancel before your next billing date, your paid tier access continues for the remainder of the paid period you have already been charged for, and the account then reverts to the free hosted tier. We do not provide prorated refunds, credits for unused time, or refunds for partial billing periods, downgrades, or periods during which you did not use the Services.
9.6. Price changes. We may change Paid Plan prices. A price change takes effect at your next renewal after we give you notice by email or in the application at least 14 days beforehand. If you do not agree to the new price, cancel before that renewal.
9.7. Taxes. Stated prices exclude taxes. You are responsible for any sales, use, VAT, GST, or similar taxes on your subscription, except taxes on our net income. Where we are required to collect a tax, it will be added at checkout.
9.8. Failed payments. If a renewal charge fails, we may retry it and may suspend Paid Plan capabilities until payment succeeds. An account with an unpaid balance for more than 14 days may be downgraded to the free tier.
9.9. Chargebacks. If you dispute a charge with your bank instead of contacting us first, we may suspend or terminate your account. Contact support@aplyx.app and we will work to resolve a billing problem.
9.10. Promotions. Trials, discounts, or promotional pricing apply only on their stated terms, may be revoked for abuse, and convert to the standard price at the end of the promotional period unless you cancel.
10. Intellectual property
10.1. Our rights. Except for the open-source Local Software under its own license, and except for Your Content, all rights in the Services, including the Hosted Account service, the Site, and their design, text, graphics, and compilation, are owned by aplyx or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws.
10.2. Limited license to you. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and use the Hosted Account service and the Site for your own job search. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
10.3. Trademarks. "aplyx", the aplyx logo, and related marks are marks of the aplyx operator. You may not use them without prior written permission, except to refer accurately to the Services. Marks of third parties referenced in the Services belong to their respective owners.
10.4. Feedback. If you send us suggestions or feedback, you grant us a perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free license to use it without restriction or obligation to you.
10.5. Copyright complaints. If you believe content on the Site or in the Hosted Account service infringes your copyright, contact support@aplyx.app with the material at issue, its location, your contact information, and a statement of your good-faith belief and authority. We will respond to valid notices and may remove the material.
11. Privacy
11.1. Our handling of personal information is described in the Privacy Policy. By using the Services you consent to that handling.
12. Disclaimers
12.1. THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITH ALL FAULTS AND WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, APLYX DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
12.2. APLYX DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, TIMELY, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE; THAT ANY APPLICATION WILL BE DELIVERED, RECEIVED, RECORDED, OR CONSIDERED; THAT AUTOMATED FORM FILLING OR FIT EVALUATION WILL BE ACCURATE; OR THAT USE OF THE SERVICES WILL RESULT IN ANY JOB, INTERVIEW, OR OFFER.
12.3. APLYX IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE ACTS, OMISSIONS, TERMS, OR DECISIONS OF ANY THIRD-PARTY PLATFORM, EMPLOYER, CODING AGENT, MODEL PROVIDER, OR PAYMENT PROCESSOR, OR FOR ANY CONSEQUENCE TO YOUR ACCOUNTS OR STANDING WITH THEM.
12.4. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above may not apply to you. In that case, such warranties are limited to the minimum scope and duration required by law.
13. Limitation of liability
13.1. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, APLYX WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, EMPLOYMENT OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, OR REPUTATION, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES OR THESE TERMS, WHETHER IN CONTRACT, TORT, OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF APLYX HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
13.2. APLYX'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SERVICES OR THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID APLYX IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD 100.
13.3. These limitations apply to the maximum extent permitted by law and form an essential basis of the bargain between you and aplyx. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this Section may not apply to you; in that case aplyx's liability is limited to the least amount the law permits.
13.4. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud, gross negligence, or willful misconduct.
14. Indemnification
14.1. You will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless aplyx and its operator from and against any third-party claim, demand, loss, liability, damage, cost, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to: (a) Your Content; (b) your use or misuse of the Services; (c) any application submitted using your account or configuration; (d) your breach of these Terms or of any law or third-party right, including a Third-Party Platform's terms; or (e) a misrepresentation you made to or through the Services.
14.2. We will notify you of any claim subject to indemnification and may participate in the defense with our own counsel at our expense. You will not settle any claim in a way that imposes an obligation or admission on aplyx without our prior written consent.
15. Term and termination
15.1. These Terms apply from your first use of the Services and continue until terminated.
15.2. By you. You may stop using the Services at any time. You may delete a Hosted Account by request to support@aplyx.app until a self-serve deletion option exists.
15.3. By us. We may suspend or terminate your access, with notice where practicable, if you materially breach these Terms, if your use creates legal, security, or cost risk, if a Third-Party Platform or law requires it, or if we discontinue the Hosted Account service. For a discontinuation not caused by your breach, we will provide reasonable prior notice and, for a prepaid period, a prorated refund of the unused portion.
15.4. Effect. On termination, your right to use the Hosted Account service and the Site ends, active runs stop, and we may delete your Hosted Account data after a reasonable period, subject to the Privacy Policy and any legal retention requirement. Local Software already installed continues to function under its open-source license.
15.5. Survival. Sections 6.1–6.5, 7, 9.5, 10, 12, 13, 14, 15.4–15.5, 17, and 18 survive termination.
16. Changes
16.1. We may modify these Terms. If we make a material change, we will update the date at the top and give notice by email, in the application, or by a notice on the Site at least 14 days before the change takes effect, except where an immediate change is required for legal or security reasons.
16.2. Your continued use of the Services after a change takes effect is your acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Services and, if you have a Paid Plan, cancel before the change takes effect.
16.3. If we materially and permanently reduce a capability that is central to a Paid Plan you are actively paying for, and you notify us within 30 days that the reduction is unacceptable to you, we will provide a prorated refund of the unused portion of your current billing period as your sole remedy.
17. Governing law and disputes
17.1. Governing law. These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or the Services are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules, and, where applicable, by the federal law of the United States. The United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods does not apply.
17.2. Informal resolution first. Before filing any claim, you agree to contact support@aplyx.app and attempt in good faith to resolve the dispute for at least 30 days.
17.3. Venue. Subject to Section 17.2, the state and federal courts located in the State of Washington have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute not subject to small-claims court, and you and aplyx consent to personal jurisdiction and venue there. Either party may bring an individual claim in small-claims court in a proper venue.
17.4. Jury and class-action waiver. To the extent permitted by law, you and aplyx each waive any right to a jury trial, and each agrees that claims may be brought only in an individual capacity and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, or representative proceeding. If this waiver is unenforceable for a given claim, that claim must proceed in court under Section 17.3.
17.5. Time limit. Any claim arising out of or relating to the Services or these Terms must be filed within one year after it arises, or it is permanently barred, except where applicable law prohibits a shortened limitation period.
17.6. Mandatory local law. If you are a consumer resident in a jurisdiction whose law gives you rights that cannot be waived by contract (including certain rights under the laws of your home country, state, or the EU/UK), nothing in this Section deprives you of those rights or of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of your place of residence.
18. General
18.1. Entire agreement. These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and aplyx about the Services and supersede any prior agreement on that subject. The open-source license governs the Local Software's source code as stated in Section 3.5.
18.2. Severability. If any provision is held unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or severed, and the rest of the Terms remain in effect.
18.3. No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
18.4. Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them to a successor in connection with a reorganization, or a transfer of the aplyx project or its assets, including to an entity later formed to operate it.
18.5. Force majeure. Neither party is liable for a failure or delay caused by an event beyond its reasonable control, including outages of a Third-Party Platform, network, or infrastructure provider.
18.6. Notices. We may give you notice by email to your account address, by a message in the application, or by a posting on the Site. You give us notice at support@aplyx.app.
18.7. Relationship. You and aplyx are independent parties. Except for the limited agency authorization in Section 5.1, these Terms create no partnership, joint venture, employment, or general agency relationship.
18.8. Export and sanctions. You represent that you are not located in, and will not use the Services from, a country or by a party subject to comprehensive U.S. sanctions or trade restrictions.
18.9. Headings. Headings are for convenience only and do not affect interpretation.
19. Contact
19.1. Questions about these Terms, billing, or your account: support@aplyx.app, or open an issue or discussion on our GitHub repository.
